I was reading S. Bear Bergman's "Butch is a Noun" last week and, while enjoying it, was thinking of all the ways that it didn't apply to my relationship. While we are indeed pretty markedly a butch-femme couple (those of you who know me but not my beloved and don't think I'm femme will just have to trust me on this), we don't have any of the classic dynamics. I am pretty much the femme top from Hell, she doesn't do much butch posturing, not a whole lot of the caretaking that "Butch" describes going on, etc., etc. Or so I thought. Got home the other night feeling stressed and sore and mumbled something about taking a bath. My beloved bolted into the bathroom to scrub down the tub. Immediately. Okay, so maybe there is something to it.
Or else my girlfriend is just really cool. :-)

In writing news, "Periphery: Erotic Lesbian Futures," edited by the charming and talented Lynne Jamneck is out this very week from Lethe Press.
The TOC alone rocks; I can hardly wait to read it.
