job hunting, which is ironic since I do it alot. After a glorious week of an almost nonstop low level migraine, numerous phone calls with various recruiter type folks that yielded nothing and work chaos, I found myself wondering why I didn't want to go back to making minimum wage at a something that feels more useful. Or maybe less than minimum wage doing something like, I dunno, writing. Now there's an idea! :-)
Common sense in the form of my checkbook and helpful work friends soon talked me back around. In retrospect, I think the week got off to a bad start with the time change (which always throws me off) and a class on women and investing. The last was a fine idea in theory but sent me into one of those flurries of activity that result from me recognizing that someday I may not be able to work any more. Then what? I calmed down long about Saturday but it was touch and go until then.
I did get to spend Friday night with that charming and all around swell guy, mr_bad_example himself. Not only did we enjoy a very nice dinner, but we followed it up with a completist's tour of Mall of America. Every floor, all the way around (but not every store). He inspired me to blow my work anniversary gift card on a gorgeous pen from the spiffy pen store and kept me entertained and preoccupied until I was finally ready to go home and sleep more than 4 hours for the first time in several days. I can honestly say that it was the first visit to MOA I've enjoyed. :-) Matt rules!
Saturday, it was off to Theater Unbound with the beauteous and unique Rebecca to (briefly) meet lesbian playwright Carolyn Gage and watch (and participate) in her play "The Anastasia Trials in the Court of Women." This was quite interesting and thought provoking, as well as causing me to have a flashback to my various days in collectives of one sort or another.
I have been in at least 5 that I can remember, including a couple of bookstores, a resource center and a women's music festival. I learned a great deal, met some lovely people and accomplished some good work. And if I never have to sit through feminist process building toward complete consensus again, I'm good with that. :-)))
And for those of you who know the beauteous Rebecca, be sure and ask to see her new tats - full raven's wings, one on each shoulder, done feather by feather. They're incredible and I admire her lack of nerve endings.
