Weekly flyby posting...
Jul. 16th, 2006 01:55 pmStill stressed, still tired but other than that, not half bad. :-)
We went to see "Pirates 2" on Friday and responded with a resounding yawn. Then it was off to the hinterlands of rural Minnesota for a friend's wedding. This time, I wised up (based on prior bad wedding experiences) and insisted we drop off the lovely guest book that Jana made for them a couple of days early so that when we were following the fairly awful directions and got lost, it would be less stressful. We did, in fact, get lost and arrived about 5 minutes before the ceremony started. Nothing says fun like outdoor weddings in the middle of nowhere on 100+ degree days. I think it needs to be on a t-shirt. :-)
At any rate, it went off reasonably well and the happy couple was pretty happy so that was all good. I must say that other than the accrued legal and social benefits, I wasn't filled with an overwhelming desire to try it myself. Every wedding I attend seems like a royal pain for all involved but maybe it's just me. On the offhand chance we ever get to have our relationship duely sanctioned by a legal entity, I'm thinking justice of the peace, then party. No fuss, no muss. Just so you know.
The other big event of this week is the purchase of bifocals. I feel old. :-(
Got some work done on a couple of stories and managed to finish a draft of yet another new story for the forthcoming collection (huzzah!), which puts me at 5 new, 5 reprints and 4 more in progress. Still need one or two more yet, I think. Hoping to get my encyclopedia articles all drafted out this week and at least one more story. Got a couple of notes from editors asking for stories - skiffy and such, not so much erotica so quite pleased about that. Nice to branch out. :-)
Before I forget, next Saturday (the 22nd) is my Torquere LJ day. C'mn by and say hi!
