Seeing as I'm getting things more or less done tonight.
Waaaay back in 1997, a magazine called Lesbian Short Fiction, edited by Jinx Beers bought and published the first short story that I ever wrote: a historical romance entitled "M. Le Maupin." It was based on an incident from the life of the notorious 17th century French opera singer, duelist, lover of women and men Julie d'Aubigny Maupin. Someday  I shall finish the novel I started about her a few years back. Post werewolves. At any rate, celebrated fantasy artist Alicia Austin did the cover illustration from my story. To say this is one of my prized possessions would be an understatement (and yes, I squeed like a fangrrl when I finally met her and got her to sign my other copy. :-).

Very nice. Even if Ms. Austin wasn't celebrated, she's a damn good artist. :-)

Oh, that's really nice. I've got four of her signed prints, from way back when she used to come to AggieCon in College Station, TX in the late 80s. She came once as an artist guest of honor and then came back at least once that I know of just to sell her art in the dealer's room. At that time, the con had a big attendance and sold a ton of art prints and originals.
