Has involved lots of yard work. I got all the plants from the Bancroft Elementary Plant Sale in the beds, plus mowing and weeding. As a bonus, I discovered we now have wild mint growing in one of the beds which means I can easily make the lovely mint/carrot salad recipe that I got from somewhere or other, possibly Allergy Free Eating which is an oldie but a goodie. I'm also trying to make a vegetarian dish at least once a week from the other possible source, The Moosewood Cooks at Home, which I also recommend.

And I managed the submission of "At Mother Laurie's House of Bliss" to Ladies of Trade Town and the reading of all currently received subs for Hellebore and Rue.

Yesterday morning was brunch at the Seward and getting caught up with my buddy Mike, who I haven't seen in ages.
Last night's adventures included a trip to new comic book shop in Uptown (okay, but needs to figure what demographic it's going for. If you want to sell to hipsters, you better be rocking the manga too, just saying) where I picked up the new Birds of Prey (Gail Simone squee, just on general principle) and the first volume of Fables, which I keep hearing is awesome. From there, it was on to Bryant Lake Bowl for dinner and Hardcover Theater's Wormwood. The play is based on a 1890 novel by Maria Corelli, a bestselling author of the time period known for her supernatural fiction. Wormwood is, as Rebecca pointed out, the Reefer Madness of its time. "Drink absinthe and go mad!" Good production, good performances, quirky sense of humor - worth checking out. Then there was sorbet and hilarity afterward so an excellent evening all around.

In reading other things news, I'm about halfway through The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms and quite enjoying it so far. It will end up on my Goodreads list when I finish it, if you're curious.

And lest I forget, huge congrats to lee_martindale, now a SFWA Regional Coordinator!
