Gaylaxicon Schedule and such

So far, the weekend is not going at all as I had planned. I keep getting sidetracked by other things that need to get done and they keep snowballing. To wit, I just sat down to do one or two minor publicity/clean-uppy things that should have taken 30 minutes; an hour and a half later, they have completely mushroomed. It looks like our side lawn (in continuous need of de-mushrooming), which is not a good thing (I was recently asked where the fairies were going to dance after I de-mushroomed the lawn for the fourth time in as many weeks. I'll just leave this alone for the moment. :-).
Still to go - actually finishing the story that is due at the end of the month and that was requested way back at the beginning of August. It's started but then it took a turn in an unexpected direction. Then another. Urgh.
Next weekend is looming large on the horizon too.
Gaylaxicon 2009 is imminent, as in starting on Friday, the 9th.
Here's what I think I'm doing:
Friday, 6PM - Lesfic Fantasy - Beyond the Blonde and the Brunette A lot of current fantasy with lesbian characters grew out of Xena/Gabrielle fanfic. How do we honor this while moving the fiction in new directions? Who does this well? What's the future of lesbian fantasy/sf?
Joselle Vanderhooft, me and presumably one or two other folks
8PM - MEET THE PROS PARTY
Saturday, 12:30PM - Sex and Death and Shapeshifters, Oh My! Urban fantasy, erotic fantasy, and paranormal romance. Lesbian vampires, hot gay/bi werewolves, lovely elves, and slightly inept witches. What makes these stories so popular, and who does it well?
Brian Attebery, Pam Keesey, Catherine Lundoff [M], Lyda Morehouse
How's that for a lineup?
5PM - I'll be at the Spectrum Awards where I'm hoping Haunted Hearths does well.
Sunday, 12:30 PM - Broad Universe - Reading Rapidfire Reading by members of Broad Universe, an organization that promotes work by women sf/f/h authors.
Lou Hoffman, Catherine Lundoff [M], Lyda Morehouse, JoSelle Vanderhooft
Somewhere in there, I'm supposed to be autographing too. Need to track down the schedule on that part. Looks like it'll be a very fun con. I'm looking forward to hanging out with out of town pals who I don't see much.

Date: 2009-10-04 11:52 pm (UTC)I'm happy to see that Gaylaxicon is happening in Montreal in 2010. May give it another try, since it's so close to home.
