Mothers, in general, see post-operation

So normal people's mothers get the phones turned on in their rooms when they go into the hospital for a week or so, right? I'm just checking so I have a standard to go by. :-(
Word on Monday says the hip replacement surgery went well so that's something.

Uh...let's see...I've always been able to call my father-in-law's room during his various surgeries. The nurse called me when he got out of his transplant surgery. Similar procedure was followed with my mother-in-law's breast cancer surgery.

Fortunately, I called them at home after he was home. Thus, I learned he hadn't been spending the last few days golfing. Likewise for the gallbladder situation. Fortunately, my brother just happened to be home when my father needed an emergency appendectomy. Otherwise, I might never have known...

NOW that's some memory lapse. I'd have thought to mention a broken back to someone at some point. Fun with families. :-(
