What writers think about...

when not writing. Or at least what I am thinking about currently while working on 3 other things. Namely, the importance of self-aggrandizement...er, promotion.
So Crave is up for the Lesbian Fiction Readers Choice Awards (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LesbianFictionReadersChoiceAwards/polls) for erotica. It is one of 2 books, the other being In Deep Waters edited by Karin Kallmaker and Radclyffe. I'm getting my butt kicked, not surprisingly since Kallmaker and Radclyffe are better known and more people will have read their book than mine. I just figure that maybe I can pick up a few more readers and it can't hurt anything except my ego. On the bright side though, my book has 5 votes so far and the poll doesn't close until the first week in May. I could still get 6, maybe 7. :-)
At any rate, if the whole award thing sounds like something you might want to check out (there are categories for Mystery, Romance, Adventure and misc. Antho too), you can sign up for the LesbianFictionReadersChoiceAwards group at Yahoo. The nominations are closed for this round but the polls are open.

I tried to sign up for the LesbianFictionReadersChoice yahoo group so I could vote for Crave, but I was told that I am already subscribed under my partner's Hotmail account. Mighty strange. I didn't know she belonged and in any case, we are not the same person. I tried to add my YAHOO address (more compatible with a Yahoo group, yes?), but this didn't seem to work. Whatever. Stupid machine. Anyway, you have my permission to cast a vote on my behalf, if possible. - JR

Thank you for trying! I appreciate the effort. And yes, that is weird.
