Dog update - good news!

After alot of running around and discovering that the idiots who owned the dog didn't chip it or tag it or report it missing to the Humane Society or look for it in any way in the area, I got in touch with my wonderful friends Carrie and Eric who periodically do fostering for Small Dog Rescue of Minnesota (http://www.sdrmn.org/). Turns out their older dog had just been put to sleep after a long illness and I talked up our little friend enough that they were willing to take him in for a bit and see how it went with their other dog. At any rate post checkup (which I'm waiting to hear about), he'll go up for adoption at one of their events. Unless he charms them first. :-)
At any rate, he's not up on the website yet, but if you're looking for a quiet (possibly 'de-barked'), mellow, neutered older Peke mix of some sort, with a lovely personality, house trained, car trained and cat accepting, this is the perfect pet. I'm hoping to hear good news about him very soon. We dubbed him 'Butterball' since we found him right before Thanksgiving and he's a tad rotund; looks like that'll stick since Carrie liked it.
Thanks for all your suggestions and help, folks!

That's so sad about the dog's family not posting anything about it. I'm glad ol' Butterball ran into you. :-)

Happy Thanksgiving

Well it's still remotely possible that they've been out of town and just had a phenominally clueless dog/house sitter but given BB's nonexistent outdoor survival skills, they should probably sue when they get back. :-(
I'm guessing we'll never know but I'm glad we found him too. :-)
