Catherine and Jana's Amazing Animal Rescue Adventure

Okay, not really that amazing.
But we got home from seeing "Enchanted" last night to nearly run over a lost dog in the alleyway. The moron owner had failed to tag it, so of course we have no idea where it came from. It had clearly never been further outside than someone's lawn and was headed for hypothermia when we found it.
It appears to be some sort of gold tinted long-haired pug, if there is such a thing. It's very mellow, housebroken, past its first youth and trying to make friends with our elderly cat (who is just thrilled at the prospect).
If we can't find the owner by tomorrow, I'm going to start trying the no kill shelters. What with our weird schedules and workloads, we can't keep it.
Anyone in the Twin Cities got any good leads on homes or shelter programs?

We have done fostering for Pet Haven (http://www.pethavenmn.org/) before, and they're definitely a good resource. All dogs are fostered in actual homes, not kennels, and they have all the resources for finding the original owner and what not. The phone number is (952) 831-3825 and it's a machine; leave a message with the info you have tonight, and they'll get back to you tomorrow.

That would be terrific! We'll have a picture shortly. I am going to call around a bit too just to be sure but going around door knocking didn't seem to yield any results, alas so I'm guessing we won't be able to find its original people..

They don't kill critters unless the animal is terribly sick beyond hope or mean and nasty. That's what they told me, anyhow. Both our cats are from there.
